The Prayer of the Angel at Fatima
The Angel at Fatima taught the children Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco prayers that are now famous, and of great fruit. They invite us back to the Trinity, the community of persons and unity of substance in the one Godhead. They invite us also to consider the Real Presence of the One Flesh of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and the importance of sacrifice and merit. In the following I quote from Fatima in Lucia's Own Words [1], a book I highly recommend to the faithful as superb spiritual reading. (On line here.) Both the Angel and Mary teach us some of the best prayers ever composed.
First Apparition of the Angel:
"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love you! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love you."
Second Apparition of the Angel:
"Make of everything you can a sacrifice, and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which he is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners."
Third Apparition of the Angel:
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference with which he himself is offended. And, through the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners. "Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men Make reparation for their crimes and console your God."
First Apparition of Mary:
"O most Holy Trinity, I adore you! My God, my God, I love you in the most Blessed Sacrament."
Second Apparition of Mary:
- Prayer to Accompany a Sacrifice "O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary."
- Prayer after Each Decade of the Rosary "O my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven especially those who are in most need."
I invite the Gentle Reader to pray these prayers frequently. Mary said that many souls go to hell because they have no one to pray for them. Indeed, today many suffer from hardness of heart: they will defend their sins and their sinful lives, as well as those of family and friends, rather than follow that straight and narrow road that leads to salvation.
Penance, penance, penance! All for love, all through Mary.
