Flight from the Door Fr. Paul Ward
Not once was I more alone, as when I suffered. No one can understand it or feel it, just me.
My brothers couldn’t grasp my friends couldn’t fathom the sighs of my heart moaned and gasped burning to declare this mystery to them...
But no. Solitaire I was left to inquire, with whom does my suffering discourse? For suffering is a dialogue, person to person. And another person challenged me to attain perfection in suffering.
Never did I discover myself more with God in my heart, with him alone, as upon suffering. It’s a secret God and I share, a gift he’s given me.
