Eternity Within

Fr. Paul Ward

Eternity Within

Summer grass melts hills when the wind rolls ‘long them,

Grass that grows tall covering vast horizons

Yet trampled under foot it dies,

Earth stays forever, builds sure foot to God’s sons.

Tree leaves blow about making sound and music,

Fall and die changing into heaps of ashes,

They blow about the vales and hills,

Mountains that stand and endure changing ages.

Water slices rock as it rushes downward,

Fills the sky with white in majestic picture.

Pursuing where to nest its paths,

Earth itself offers magnificent fixture.

Sons of men live on as long life permits them,

Daughters come and go as each destiny cedes.

Yet trampled under time we go,

Transcending time holding God as our creed.
